I love Seattle. When I was a single Mom living a life of just surviving one day to the next, I had dreams of moving to Seattle. Love and the Universe had other plans for me though and I ended up here on the Oregon Coast. But Seattle still calls to me.
This year my son Jake suggested that we take a few days and just go. One of the things on my bucket list was a train trip to Seattle. Big adventure for both of us since we had never taken Amtrack and we didn’t have any idea how it all worked. Turns out it wasn’t as hard as I had thought. Downloaded the app, paid online and showed up at the station. Done and done.
I had never been to the Eugene station and found it so beautiful. Simple in design and warm polished woodwork. Not a bad place to wait. And wait we did. Our first train adventure and, due to weather, over three hours late.
If I thought the Eugene station was beautiful, I was blown away by the King Street Station in Seattle. From the moment we got off the train and I saw the clock tower, I knew I was in for a treat. The building was incredible.
We only had one full day in Seattle, and we filled it in true tourist style with the Museum of Pop Culture, The Space Needle and Pikes Market.
It was a quick trip, but just enough to tide me over until I can get back. There are so many places in Seattle that I can’t wait to explore and now that I know how easy it is to hop on a train and go, I’ll be able to visit more often. It looks like the theme for 2017 is going to be travel and I can’t wait to share what I find with all of you.
