Bad Wolf Bakery & Bistro is tucked along the side of a large commercial building in Downtown Bend OR. We had gone to lunch in the Old Mill Dist. before we went to look for The Bad Wolf Bakery and I wish we hadn’t. I don’t know how I missed that it was more than just a bakery. Their meal menu looks amazing and there are several things listed (like the Cardamom Waffle) that sound incredible.
We walked in and I instantly loved the vibe of the place. Warm, inviting, laid back but modern. Now that I think about it, it was the perfect embodiment of Bend. I loved the lettering, loved the prints and quotes on the walls, loved the bar and the cute little pastry case…
Everyone has a different take on bread pudding and The Bad Wolf Bakery is no exception. Made with a rich brioche bread and covered with a warm sweet rum sauce, this bread pudding had a crust of sweet sugar on the top and was so flavorful. One of the better bread puddings (if not the best) that I’ve ever had. Roy ordered a gluten-free chocolate and hazelnut brownie. Rich and moist and so full of flavor, it was hard to believe it was gluten free.
Next time I’m in Bend, I’m definitely going to make it a point to visit the Bad Wolf for breakfast or lunch. Maybe even both!
